Upon removal of timing cover, technician found broken guide which would have definitely caused engine damage. Removed broken pieces of guide from engine. Installed new timing chain, guides, timing cover gasket, valve cover gasket. Cleaned throttle body and relearned idle. Air snorkel previously installed and damaged air bellows, heat and expand back to proper dimensions.

2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV
Mileage124,160Service Date1/26/2026Services Performed- Removed cylinder head to check lifters. We found 2 bent push rods. Sent head to machine shop to have it cleaned and checked. They hot tank head, disassemble, clean valves and cut valves. Checked valve guides for issues and found none. Machine all gasket mating surfaces and extracted one broken exhaust manifold bolt. We block sanded the engine block where the head gasket seals and installed new gasket. Installed 4 new afm lifters as they are usually the cause of this issue. Re-installed cylinder head with new bolts and torqued to spec. Re-installed exhaust manifold with new hardware. Installed valve cover and intake manifold with new gaskets. Changed oil and filter, greased the front end. Cleaned the throttle body and replaced all 8 spark plugs. Programmed out the DOD feature. Test drove vehicle for over 30 miles to verify repairs.
